Hunterson Standard Inference, Europe

Statement of interests and conflicts

Last changed: 2 November 2026

Hunterson Standard Inference is produced by Malcolm Hunter (a pen name), trading as Hunterson, a sole trader in the United Kingdom. This statement says what the producer owns, earns and does that could bear on the figures, and how conflicts are kept out of them. It is updated whenever anything in it changes, and every version is kept in the repository's history.

No judgement on the day. Each day's figure is produced by the published rules from the published data, with no discretion over any day's number (methodology, section 15). That is the main protection against any conflict: there is nothing to influence. The three judgements the methodology does involve are recorded publicly, with reasons, before they take effect.

Holdings. The producer holds no shares, tokens or other interest in any provider tested, in any company that makes a model tested, in any GPU cloud or listed inference provider, in compute futures, or in any financial product whose value depends on these figures. Holdings through broadly diversified funds and pensions, where the producer does not choose the investments, are excepted.

Networks. The producer holds no tokens of, and accepts no payment, airdrop or advisory role from, any network that sells AI inference or GPU compute.

Trading. The producer does not trade, and will not trade, any instrument whose value depends on these figures or on the price of AI inference or GPU compute.

Payments, gifts and hospitality. The producer accepts no payment, gift, credit, discount or hospitality from any provider, model maker or venue.

Hunterson as a customer. Hunterson pays for every test it makes. It buys through OpenRouter, and for its control group directly from four providers, at the prices any customer pays, from its own funds, with no discount, credit or free use. It reads OpenRouter's published market data under that data's open licence. OpenRouter's position on Hunterson's daily reading of its listings is stated in the methodology, section 8.

Related publication. The producer also writes The Bearing, a newsletter, under the same pen name. It may comment on the figures, but only after they are published, and it has no access to any figure before anyone else.

Outside work. The producer has other employment, outside the AI, computing and financial trading industries. It involves no work for or with any provider, model maker, GPU cloud or venue, and the producer will say here if that ever changes.

Before publication. Nobody sees a figure before it is published: not a provider, not a registered user, not a subscriber. Each assessment is fingerprinted and timestamped when it is made, before publication, so that anyone can check it was not changed afterwards.

Registered users. The register of benchmark uses under the data licence is kept privately, used only to tell registered users of changes, and never shared or sold.

Identity. Malcolm Hunter is a pen name. The producer's legal identity is known to the venue and the providers through payment, and will be given to any regulator or court entitled to it.
